AUM’s Yoga Therapy Certification, accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, enhances professional development for certified yoga teachers. It equips them to use yoga therapy effectively across diverse settings. Graduates of our 300/500 hour Foundational Yoga Therapy course can collaborate with healthcare specialists to provide effective yoga therapy protocols. AUM hOMe Shala’s Yoga Therapy blends Eastern yogic wisdom with Western complementary medicine in a clinical approach.

AUM’s Yoga Therapy Certification equips practitioners with safe, scientifically validated, yoga-based tools. Students gain a deep understanding of the evolution of yoga traditions, philosophy, and its relevance in supporting clients. The program covers perspectives on health, disease from yoga, Ayurveda, and categorizing illness, including prioritizing symptoms/pacification (short term) and purification/strengthening (shodhana).

Our program provides practical experience, allowing students to work with diverse demographics. Trainees study, design, and deliver yoga therapy applications for specific issues like chronic pain, cancer, neuro-motor degenerative disorders, and mental health.

Upon graduation from our Yoga Therapy program, AUM Home Shala graduates will have the skills and professional experience to provide therapeutic yoga treatment, with competency in:

Yoga Therapy Program Structure

The 400+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundational training courses and the 500+ Hour Clinical Practicum course comprise our Clinical Yoga Therapy Certification with Practicum Program, accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. After completing 75 Hours of the Yoga Therapy Foundational courses, students are eligible to begin seeing case studies in the Yoga Therapy Clinical Practicum.

400+Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundational Training

The purpose of our 400+ hour clinical yoga therapy foundational training course is to comprehensively address both the musculoskeletal system and other vital systems of the body. This ensures a holistic approach to understanding and promoting overall well-being.This encompasses the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, nervous, and respiratory systems, with a specific focus on emphasizing the mind/body connection. Students are required to complete take-home case study and Ayurveda protocols, and are required to write a research paper and present their findings.

500+ Yoga Therapy Clinical Practicum

Our students receive hands-on experience designing and delivering yoga therapy protocols. Students are assigned up to ten individual case studies through our free weekly community clinic, and create and develop a protocol for each one over the course of nine sessions. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the teachers and schedule for the Clinical Practicum may be subject to change. It’s important to stay updated on any potential adjustments. Students are given access to the Shala’s internal calendar for the latest updates. Practicum dates are offered annually from January 15 through November 15, and it is the responsibility of the student to schedule their time according to their preferred graduation timeline.

How to Apply for our Clinical Yoga Therapy program

Please note: The yoga therapy components of our course are based on IAYT accreditation, not derived from our status as an RYS® with Yoga Alliance Registry.

What are the prerequisites?

To begin the 400+ Hour training Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation training, students must have:

• One year of personal practice
• Documented completion of a Yoga Alliance 200-hour yoga teacher training course
• One year of documented teaching experience.

To begin the 375+ Hour training Clinical Yoga Therapy Bridge Program, students must have:

• One year of personal practice.
• Documented completion of both a Yoga Alliance 200-hour yoga teacher training course and a Yoga Alliance 300/500-hour yoga teacher training course.
• One year of documented teaching experience.

To begin the 500+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Practicum training, students must have:

• One year of personal practice
• Documented completion of a Yoga Alliance 200-hour yoga teacher training course and a Yoga Alliance 300/500-hour yoga teacher training course.
• One year of documented teaching experience.
• 75-Hours of Yoga Therapy Foundational curriculum completed OR 40-Hours of Bridge Program curriculum completed

How much is the tuition?

A nonrefundable application fee of $100 must be submitted with your initial application.

We offer 2-, 4-, and 6-payment plans for the 400+Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundational Training, the 500+ Hour Clinical Practicum, and the Bridge Program.

400+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation Training (does not include 500+ Hour Clinical Practicum): Tuition $5,900.

500+ Hour Clinical Practicum Tuition: $7,300.

Please note: Some weekend yoga therapy workshops are open to the general public as well as to our teachers-in-training. If you enroll in the training program after attending a weekend workshop, you will receive credit toward the training once you complete all assignments for that workshop. Credit will be granted for up to two weekend workshops before enrollment in the full course is required in order to receive additional credits.

Do you offer payment plans?

AUM hOMe Shala offers a variety of payment plans for the Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundational 400+ Hour Certification and 500+ Hour Clinical Practicum, which includes service fees. Students will agree, in a signed contract, to make an initial down payment and subsequent payments. Payments are made on the 1st of each month. In the event that a payment is declined or returned, students will be charged a service fee of $50 for each failed transaction.

Are there any additional costs outside of tuition?

• Students must purchase a pair of CEAL Blue Scrubs and have our logo embroidered, as well as their name, or purchase a name tag separately. These are to be worn in clinic. Cost is variable according to the style you choose; average price with embroidery is $40. Students are responsible for purchasing their own scrubs. We recommend that students have a professional head shot taken wearing their scrubs.
• Students must purchase a lab coat in a style of their choosing, with logo and embroidered name (or name tag). These are to be worn in clinic, and average $40 with embroidery. Additionally, clinical students must wear Shala yoga shirt under their jacket. Cost is $35/shirt. Students must have a professional head shot taken wearing their scrubs or lab coat.
• 400+ hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation students are responsible for completing a total of 11 Mentor Hours with a faculty member(s) of their choice. The cost is $100 for an hour of time, which is paid directly to the faculty member.
• Bridge students students are responsible for completing a total of 7 Mentor Hours with a faculty member(s) of their choice. The cost is $100 for an hour of time, which is paid directly to the faculty member.
• An $80 fee is applicable for the HIPPA test. Cost is subject to change.
• Students are required to hold a current Liability Policy naming AUM Home Shala as a Certificate Holder. Policy costs vary between approximately $130-$180.

Is there an enrollment deadline?

A minimum of 5 students is required to make a class, and our maximum enrollment is 16.

Do you offer refunds?

If you cancel three weeks prior to the first session of the program, you will receive a full refund minus a $450 nonrefundable processing fee. If you cancel between 3 weeks and 1 week prior to the program, you will receive a refund of half the tuition, minus the $450 nonrefundable processing fee. Cancellations less than 1 week prior to the program are nonrefundable.

A minimum of five (5) participants is required in order to make the program available as offered. In the event that participation does not reach the minimum of five (5) students, AUM Home Shala reserves the right to cancel the program and refund tuition. AUM hOMe Shala also reserves the right to deny enrollment due to space limitations or any other concerns.

What is required to obtain certification?

To obtain 900+ hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation Certification with Practicum, students must complete all courses with documented attendance of residential hours of shadowing and assisting yoga therapy protocols, requisite case studys, group classes and distance learning hours.

Students who complete the 400+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation Certification section of the course, but not the 500+Hour Clinical Practicum, are eligible to be registered as 300-Hour Yoga Teachers as designated by the Yoga Alliance.

Mentorship Component 

Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation students spend up to 11 hours with a faculty mentor(s) of their choice. (The mentorship must take place in person or by telephone or Zoom; not via e-mail). The student is responsible for scheduling with the mentor(s). Each mentored hour is $100 and the student pays the tuition directly to the faculty member.

Specialty Training Component 

Students who are teaching group classes as part of their clinical practicum may teach the following group class topics if they take AUM’s specialty trainings in these areas: Mental Health (classes for anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, addictions); Yoga Therapy for the Heart.

After graduating, will I be eligible for designation as a yoga therapist with IAYT?

Students who successfully complete both the 400+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation training and the 500+Hour Clinical Practicum components of our program will receive a Shala certificate of completion and will be eligible to apply to the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) for designation as a yoga therapist.

Should students complete only the 400+ Hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Foundation training section of the course, but not the 500+ Hour Clinical Practicum, are eligible to be registered as 300-Hour Yoga Teacher as designated by the Yoga Alliance.depending on the number of contact hours reflected in the student’s 200-hour yoga teacher certification and/or other trainings that meet Yoga Alliance standards.

What is the weekend schedule like?

Classes typically include lecture, discussion, and yoga protocol for area of focus. Courses are held on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays and most courses are offered at times that are compatible for both East and West Coast time zones.

How much homework is required?

Distance Learning time is approximately 5-10 hours per Course. Pre-course learning assignments are provided at least 2 weeks prior to each course start.
